Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry 4CH1 Past Papers with Mark Schemes

Every Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Chemistry (4CH1) paper in the collection, organised by series and paper. Pick a year and a series, choose Paper 1 or Paper 2, then open the question paper, its mark scheme and, where there is one, the examiners’ report. Timed practice on full papers, marked line by line against the mark scheme, is the most reliable way to find what still needs work before the exam.

Step 1

Choose a series

January, Summer or November, from 2019 to 2025, newest first.

Step 2

Pick your paper

Paper 1 (1C) or Paper 2 (2C), plus the alternative versions 1CR and 2CR.

Step 3

Mark it, then read the report

Use the mark scheme, then the examiners’ report to see where marks are lost.

All 4CH1 past papers by session

Each link opens that paper’s own page. The codes show which variants or versions it holds.

Past paper content © Pearson Education Ltd. The official specification and the latest papers are on the International GCSE Chemistry (4CH1) specification. If a file says it isn’t in the collection yet, it simply hasn’t been added.

Prefer Practice by Topic?

Full papers are best for timing and exam technique. For one weak topic at a time, use the IGCSE topic-wise resources or the resource search. Other boards and qualifications are on the full list of past papers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Edexcel International GCSE Chemistry past papers are here?

Specification 4CH1 papers from the Summer 2019 series and the January 2020 to Summer 2025 series that are in the collection, with the question paper and mark scheme for Paper 1 and Paper 2, plus examiners’ reports where they are available.

What are Paper 1 and Paper 2?

The qualification is linear, with two written papers taken in the same series at the end of the course. Paper 1 (1C) is a 2-hour paper and Paper 2 (2C) is a 1-hour-15-minute paper, as printed on their covers.

What do 1CR and 2CR mean?

Most series also have an alternative version of both papers, coded 1CR and 2CR, with its own question paper and mark scheme. They cover the same specification as 1C and 2C, so they make good extra practice.

What is the 4SD0 code printed on the papers?

Paper 1C and Paper 2C are also sat for Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Science (Double Award), so the cover carries both codes: 4CH1 and 4SD0. It is the same paper either way.

Which series are included, and why are some missing?

January, Summer (May/June) and November series from 2019 to 2025 are included where the collection has them. There is no Summer 2020 series, Summer 2021 and the November 2023 and 2024 series have only the standard papers (no 1CR or 2CR), and a mark scheme or report that is not in the collection is marked as such on the paper.

Why do some November 2020 question papers show a May or June 2020 date?

The papers prepared for May and June 2020 were not sat that summer, and the November 2020 mark scheme is for the same questions. They are listed under November 2020 with that mark scheme, even though the cover still shows the original date.

Why is there a short wait before a paper opens?

Papers are free to use. The short countdown before each file opens helps keep the site running while the files load.
